HOPe – From Balcony Brew to Microbrewery
André Loos discovered brewing thanks to a challenge from a colleague – to brew a good beer on a 5-square-meter balcony. The very first batch tasted fantastic, which fascinated him. What began as a new hobby quickly turned into a passion. By 2017, André had acquired extensive knowledge of the craft of brewing and founded a microbrewery in the center of Neuhausen am Rheinfall, in a 45-square-meter space. He received support from an Ahead microcredit, which he invested in brewing equipment and other key components needed to produce the first HOPe beer.
He got a major boost of motivation in 2018 when he won first place in the lager category from the Swiss Homebrewing Society.
In 2020, the brewery moved to a new location. Thanks to a follow-up loan from Ahead Microcredits, he was able to expand the brewery with more space and additional tanks to meet growing demand and continue pursuing his dream of building his own brewery.
